Warendorf has capable minds - successful discussion group in the Hotel im Engel
With a fifth edition and a sold-out room with 200 visitors in the “Im Engel” hotel, the “Warendorf Heads” discussion group was able to continue its success story on Thursday evening. What was already apparent in advance, as Christoph Hess, one of the three initiators and moderators, was able to announce in a good mood right from the start. Even before the names of this year's heads were announced, around a third of the tickets for Thursday evening had already been sold. A great leap of faith, especially since all proceeds from ticket sales go to good causes. For the previous event, half of the focus was on earthquake relief for Turkey/Syria due to current events at the time. The other 50 percent went to the Bochum club “Powerchair Hockey”, in which the last participant Christian Homburg is chairman of the e-wheelchair initiative.
At the current event, two of the heads were also able to enjoy 50 percent of the proceeds for their charitable work. One of them is experienced in collecting donations and is well known for it. With Monika Lucht, the organizers invited a woman to the angel who puts almost everything she does into the well-being of her 170 children. “Godchildren,” she explained about her work for Nepal Aid and thrilled those present during the conversation with Hess with her rousing manner in which she reported on the absolute necessity of the aid because the children there live in extreme poverty. There was silence in the room as she talked about how children spy around the schools there, trying to find a way to attend school too. What the parents cannot finance because of the costs of books, food and uniforms. Even small children know that “they have no chance without school, they will end up on the streets,” emphasized the trained pediatric nurse. A murmur went through the room when the visitors heard that the future of such a child could be saved with a sponsorship of just 25 euros per month. Lucht generates additional donations through her work at flea markets and through her cellar junk, to which she cordially invites you at any time.
The second donation recipient and Warendorf head of the evening was Holger Blüder, head of the Beckum-Warendorf music school, pianist, cabaret artist and book author. He demonstrated his artistic abilities several times, let the grand piano sound with two classical works, and chatted with moderator Reinhard Hesse in a relaxed, funny and cabaret-like manner. The group took the opportunity to present the children's book “Der Emsefant”, which Blüder wrote together with Dr. Carolin Reich wrote about positive time management during the corona pandemic. Cleverly using the moderator's prepared questions as keywords, he turned his vita into an entertaining pleasure and gained further sympathy through the relaxed manner in which he disclosed the failures of his life in a blunt, yet skillfully flowery manner. The fact that he learned to appreciate his music teacher's assessment that “Your playing is obscene, vulgar and amateurish” was an astonishing insight into the life of the respected pianist with international experience. Anyone who wants to experience even more fun things from and with Holger Blüder will have the opportunity to do so in February, when his second cabaret program premieres, as Hesse announced.
Even without cabaret and music, Cornelia Köster, founder of the Warendorf advertising agency Pilotfisch, knew how to inspire. She explained her deep roots in Münsterland, especially Warendorf, although she has also worked in the east and west of her homeland - in Bielefeld and Münster. Münsterland, said the Warendorf creative who uses the hashtag #müfluencer, has a really great group of people and just as great entrepreneurship. So it makes sense to advertise the Münsterland, she emphasized and, when asked about the city's future, called Warendorf “a pearl that hasn't quite been polished yet”.
The former student of the Laurentianum, Michael Kantrovich, has already let this pearl shine in different lights several times. And not just that. The illumination also bore his creative signature at the UEFA Champions Laegue Final in Paris, the premiere of the Porsche Cayenne and the Splash Festival near Bitterfeld. The fact that he comes from a musical family and received several awards with the clarinet at Jugend musiziert showed another side of the “again” Warendorfer, who as an angler was also able to pull a massive 1.25 meter long pike from Sassenberger Feldmarksee. His ability to juggle with dialects not only made his conversation partner Gerd Leve laugh, his ability to juggle with light came to the listeners' minds when images of the “Warendorf Christmas lights” shone on the screen that accompanied the event. The Corona solution for the Christmas forest at the time was still well remembered by everyone present.
At the end of the evening, which was still entertaining at just under three hours, Monika Lucht announced that half of the donated proceeds would be used for children of forest people in Nepal who lead a life as lepers there. Holger Blüder will use the other half to equip the music therapy work at the music school.
The next “Warendorf Heads” will take place on February 15, 2024 in the Hotel “Im Engel”. Advance sales have already started.
